Welcome to the end.........
End of a HUGE year for more than one reason.
There was my marriage, then the adventure of a honeymoon that took myself and my new bride into the interior of this wonderful country, Australia. That little trip has certainly cemented my love for the adventure lifestyle.
Anyhoo!!!!!!!
As part of Darren's, of Problogger fame, writing project I am going to review a very interesting year.
For me the year began swimmingly when at my girlfriends 30th birthday I got down on bended knee and proposed. That just opened a whole can of worms. Who would have thought that a wedding could be so much hard work.
Then, on a more adventurous note there was the initial hatching of an idea for my father to take off on the great motorcycle adventure. He has got it in his head that it is time to take the Honda Goldwing for a serious run. The plan is the take off north in the winter (about May) and then as the temperature rises to slowly make his way south and explore anywhere that comes along. Before that gets underway there is still the need to learn how to use the camper trailer he bought. Unfortunately he has not looked at it since buying it nearly 10 months ago and I am sure I will be the one who will working it out and teaching him. Amazing how the teaching comes full circle ;)
So once the big adventure is underway there is our big adventure of meeting up with him in the middle of Australia in Alice Springs. Of course we may have to take the long way and enjoy the trip and see how incredibly lost we can get just to set a another challenge. We're good at that!!
So back to the review, there was of course the wedding which was the best day of my life. Then came the honeymoon. We set off for middle Queensland in the Land Rover with the camper trailer in tow. Having never used or even driven a decent distance with a trailer, I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of doing so. Every camp took a maximum of 10 minutes to setup and 30 seconds to crack open the first beer.
We, however, did find the limit of the Magellan GPS when trying to find our way back to civilisation. Luckily we were blessed with a fairly good sense of direction, for the GPS was determined to send us further into the bush instead of into town.
Add to the adventure the ever-present characters in the outer reaches of this great land and you have a trip that will never be forgotten.
Well, now comes another huge year of adventures, including building a new house and possible kids!! WOOHOO!! Bring on 2007!!
Merry Xmas to everyone and the happiest of New Years!!
