Here is the vehicle that got me into so much trouble. Of course it was nothing to do with the inexperienced driver!!!

You heard right, Kite Surfing!!

Yesterday, July 16th 2006, was my first venture into the big scary world of four wheel driving. The getting into trouble thing came naturally for me. If there was a possibility of getting hung-up, stuck, bogged and just generally in-over-my-head I did it.

however I did impress myself a little with how quickly I picked certain techniques, and I must admit this was probably due the great teacher I had with me. This man is a driving machine!! If there was something that looked impossible he would hit it fullbore and laugh as he went sailing over to the other side. It was a wonderful experience.

The coming home was a little harrowing however.

The way home was blocked by large boulders and a deep hole designed to keep people out of this place. The problem was that we were "in" this place and wanted to get out. So me being the man I am, handed over the controls of my car and let the guru get us out. Thank god!!
My heart was in my mouth a few times and my pocket was begining to burn with the thought of how much this damage would cost.
But once out I had a chance to reflect and think about the afternoon I lost my 4wd virginity and I decided............

THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN

Here is a photo of a sunset I experienced recently on the northern end of North Stradbroke Island.
This is in fact the trip that sealed my 4wd fate.
Driving up and down that beach was just the most wonderful feeling that it was then that I decided to buy the Land Rover Discovery and go down the path a 4wd adventurer.

Another part of this site will be a section for various photography interests.

There will be hints and tips as sourced by me and used by me, along with a section for displaying such results.

Still waiting on the polarizing filter and wide angle but will be coming very soon.

It may not get an OZ release but it sure looks fun.
Toyota have released an SUV with some off-road capabilities called the FJ Cruiser.
It looks like fun and with a funky design could be a bit of a winner.

I think they may be trying to cash in on the Landcruiser mystique here but if it can handle the conditions it could be a worthy vehicle.
In my opinion though I think it may be a little light on the 4wd application side.

Who knows it may never see it to a bush out here ;)

This blog will be a place to inform and discuss various aspects of the adventure world.

I am heading off on an adventure in October. A trip for my honeymoon taking in parts of the South Eastern region of Queensland Australia. From this adventure I will continue to blog with small updates and commentary of various things we come across out there.

Until then there is a lot of planning and a lot of new toys to get. So to help myself and maybe others I will write about the various gadgets I come across and maybe we can all get some benefit.

So let the adventure begin....
